Westco Smart Homes was founded in 1982 by President Jack Goldberg in response to a growing need among residential clients for more intuitive and elegant lighting control. After years in commercial electrical contracting, Jack was approached by project managers seeking better solutions for their own homes—lighting systems that could simplify daily routines, eliminate cluttered switch layouts, and offer centralized control of interior and exterior lights.

These early conversations revealed a clear gap in the residential market: very few electrical contractors understood the expectations of homeowners seeking both functionality and refinement. Westco Smart Homes was created to fill that gap.

Since then, Westco has become a trusted partner to internationally renowned architects and designers, contributing to award-winning home automation projects throughout Southern California and across the globe—including high-end residences in the United Arab Emirates, the Philippines, North Africa, and the United States.

In 2008, Jack’s daughter, Sydney, joined the company as a lead programming specialist. Together, they continue to lead Westco Smart Homes as a second-generation, family-run business dedicated to precision, professionalism, and personalized service.
